Kuils River Youth Trust (KRJT) is a Non-Profit Organization that provides effective social services in schools within the Kuils River community by assisting with social, spiritual, emotional, cognitive and physical support and development of school-going young people.
Over time, the consciousness has grown that a more comprehensive service, that also addresses psychosocial and social needs should be established.
Research was done and three schools within Kuils River was identified and three Social Workers were placed there as fulltime workers. The Social Workers are employed by the KRJT and are responsible to the Board of Trustees for all their work.
The Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees composed of several community representatives.
The Social Workers assist learners with academic learning by providing strategic services that identify and address the social-emotional-environmental issues that interfere with the educational process.
Working close with parents/guardians, teachers, school principals and community-based resources, the school Social Worker implements strategies that promote learners’ positive school adjustment.
Each Social Worker is assigned to a school based upon identified needs of the learner population.
